Political Work

Doing political communications for Sam Fein for City Auditor and the Albany County Young Democrats has been some of the most meaningful work I’ve taken on. Crafting messages, building narratives, and engaging with our community—whether through press releases, social media, or event promotion—has shown me just how powerful creative, inventive communication can be in shaping local democracy. This work feels valuable not only because it supports candidates and movements I believe in, but because it helps bridge the gap between everyday residents and the decisions that affect their lives. Being part of that process, helping voices be heard and momentum be built, is incredibly rewarding.

Additionally, I have taken on more responsibility as the Deputy Chair of the NYS Young Democrats Women's Caucus, alongside our Chair from the Westchester County YD, Annie Willis.

Successful campaigns I have worked, advised, or volunteered with:

  • Dr. Dorcey Applyrs for Mayor of the City of Albany

  • Sam Fein for Albany Chief City Auditor

  • Will Little for NYS Supreme Court, 3rd Judicial District

  • Julian Kovacs for Colonie Town Board

  • Connor Rohan for Wilton Town Board

How It Started

I have been engaged in political work for over 12 years, starting in 2013 when, at just 15 years old, I was inspired by Wendy Davis’s historic filibuster in the Texas Senate for reproductive rights. Motivated by that moment, I founded the first feminist organization at my high school and soon became active in local advocacy, including being interviewed by Spectrum News at a Planned Parenthood rally in Syracuse. From ages 17 to 19, I volunteered as a community organizer with Planned Parenthood, building relationships, supporting outreach, and helping mobilize young people around reproductive justice. Throughout college, I continued this commitment by working closely with women’s organizations to promote dialogue, visibility, and action around women’s issues and broader social communication. This foundation in youth activism shaped my political values and set the stage for my ongoing work in strategic communications, grassroots engagement, and community leadership.

Director of Communications for
Sam Fein for Albany City Auditor

I served as the Director of Communications for Sam Fein’s campaign for Albany City Auditor, where I oversaw every aspect of the campaign’s messaging across digital and traditional platforms. I led strategy and execution for email outreach, social media content, direct mailers, advertising campaigns, and targeted messaging. I created and edited campaign videos, developed visual assets and graphic designs, wrote speeches, and coordinated debate preparation to ensure Sam’s message was persuasive, consistent, and grounded in community priorities.

My responsibilities also included rapid-response messaging, press engagement, and crafting clear narratives around transparency, accountability, and local government accessibility. Managing this comprehensive communications operation reinforced my dedication to public service and demonstrated how thoughtful, intentional messaging can inspire voter engagement, build trust, and amplify voices working toward a more transparent and responsive Albany.

Communications Director for the Albany County Young Democrats

As the 2025-26 Communications Director for the Albany County Young Democrats, I manage a comprehensive communications strategy that includes social media outreach, email newsletters, graphic design, video editing, advertisement creation, press engagement, speech preparation, and event promotion to amplify our chapter’s mission and accomplishments. Beyond digital messaging, our work is rooted in tangible community action: we regularly organize canvasses and volunteer efforts such as winter coat drives and Toys for Tots donations.

We also coordinate major events, including our annual Installation Celebration & Awards, which in 2025 brought in over 200 attendees and raised more than $5,000 to support youth political engagement in Albany County. In 2025, our executive team also traveled to the Young Democrats of America National Convention, where we met with influential leaders like Beto O’Rourke, David Hogg, and Malcolm Kenyatta. These experiences have strengthened our network and reinforced my belief that strategic, values-driven communication can directly support community impact, inspire civic participation, and help build a new generation of Democratic leadership.

Deputy Chair of the NYS Young Democrats Women's Caucus

Today, as the Deputy Chair of the New York State Young Democrats Women’s Caucus alongside our Chair from Westchester, Annie Willis, my focus is on revitalizing the caucus and building it into a more active, accessible, and inclusive space statewide. We are working to reestablish communication channels with county chapters, create meaningful opportunities for collaboration, and develop programming that engages young women in both local and statewide political work. Our efforts center on transparency, community-building, and fostering a clear support structure for members who want to get involved, lead, or grow their organizing skills. Rebuilding this caucus means not only amplifying women’s voices within NYSYD, but also laying the groundwork for sustained mentorship, shared resources, and a culture that reflects the diverse experiences of young women across New York.
